Released: 22nd September 2012
Producer: Singhala Music
-Callum Shortal
-Ambrose Kenny Smith
-Matt Blach

-Andrew Crossley

Formed off the coast of WA (Rottnest Island), these 5 young men formed in late 2011.  They have since been quite busy, touring Melbourne and releasing their debut self tittled EP-'The Murlocs'.  Consequently they have developed a loyal fan base, particularly in central Melbourne.  They have since begun to be played on regular rotation on Triple J Unearthed.  They are releasing this EP in Sydney on the 22nd of September 2012 @ the GoodGod Small Club.

I listened to this entire EP on a 20-minute bus ride and in short I really loved this EP. It is like a concentrated shot of dense garage rock.  The sounds are rough, rustic and have a western feel about them.  The EP opens with ‘Tee Pee’, which more or less is indicative of what to expect for the rest of the EP.  You can really hear the influences of surfing culture throughout this EP, particularly in the song ‘Bogan Grove’.  The fuzzy harmonica combined with the distorted guitar and a fast little melody makes for some cruisy listening.  Worth checking!
